The experience Baltimore County needs

Establishing good public policy is at the forefront of Izzy Patoka’s agenda and actions. Izzy has extensive experience in strengthening communities throughout his professional career and will continue that work as Baltimore County Executive. Izzy was Chair of the County Council and represents District 2 on the County Council. His love for his community and work in both the private and public sector was what drove him to first run for elected office in 2018. He was an underdog in his first campaign in 2018. Izzy went on to win his re-election campaign in 2022 and was then elected chair by his colleagues on the County Council for the 2024 term.

As chair of the County Council, Izzy passed legislation to expand the County Council from seven to nine seats that would allow minority and underrepresented communities a better chance to gain elected office. He also helped pass a county budget that was both balanced and increased funding for our public schools, led on legislation that reduced school overcrowding and required that there was a seat for every one of our students. He also passed legislation on mixed-use zoning regulation to ensure Baltimore County develops with the community at the forefront of decision making. He was also the lead sponsor of Baltimore County’s “Bag Bill” which was focused on ridding the county of plastic bag pollution.

Throughout his career Izzy has also served in these key leadership positions:
